About the artwork
This work features a male figure entering a red-lit room. He seems to be greeted by a woman. The lighting and the interplay of light and shadow are very effective. The mood of the image evokes an atmosphere of closeness and vulnerability, reinforced by the simplicity of the decor. This work is part of the "Madones Infertiles" series, in which Bourcart explores Frankfurt's brothels, offering an intimate, unvarnished vision of these places.
