About the artwork
Depicted as a superheroine, this work features the iconic character of Fafi, a "Fafinette", in a low-angle shot. Caught in action, she seems poised to change the world. The artist develops her feminist universe called "The Carmine Vault" in this colorful, comic-book-inspired composition.
Expert opinion
By taking us on a new adventure with her seductive, audacious fafinette, the artist reveals a feminist and educational discourse.
About the artist
Born in 1976, Fabienne Saincry aka Fafi is a French urban artist who lives and works between Paris and Biarritz. Beginning her career with graffiti in her native Toulouse, she went on to paint a fictional universe, which she calls "The Carmine Vault", composed of female characters, the "Fafinettes". Her work is recognized worldwide, as evidenced by her numerous collaborations with Adidas, Sony and Chanel, her press articles and illustrations for Vogue and Elle, and her international exhibitions ranging from the Palais de Tokyo in Paris to the Corey Helford Gallery in Los Angeles. In 2023, she will be traveling between Tokyo, New York, Los Angeles and Hawaii to present her "Portraits Happenings" project, in which she draws her lovers in fafinette. She is also working on her second graphic novel, following the 2012 release of "The Carmine Vault" published by Rizzoli Books and Alternatives.
“The fafinettes went from carefree, charming and slightly awkward teenagers to powerful, defiant and delirious women. They simply followed the emotions of my life as they unfolded.”
