About the artwork

Homerbob Yellow perfectly illustrates the hybrid visual universe of Jerkface, an artist renowned for his bold appropriations of the popular imagination. The sculpture combines the emblematic features of two iconic figures from television culture, fused into a three-dimensional form that is both playful and slightly destabilizing. Made from polyurethane resin, PVC and aluminum, the work is distinguished by its glossy finish and quasi-industrial precision, accentuating the cartoon aesthetic and chromatic saturation. Simplified volumes, bold colors and exaggerated expression create a tension between apparent innocence and critical irony. By transforming a universally identifiable character, Jerkface questions the mechanisms of nostalgia, consumption and image reproduction in contemporary culture.

Expert opinion

This work is a continuation of Jerkface's work on the reinterpretation of popular icons and their formal deconstruction. The quality of execution and the choice of durable materials give the piece an assertive sculptural presence that goes beyond mere pop references. With its controlled format and immediate visual impact, Homerbob Yellow will appeal both to collectors sensitive to neo-pop aesthetics and those interested in a broader reflection on visual culture and appropriation. The work testifies to a period when the artist was consolidating his international recognition and asserting an identifiable, coherent language.

About the artist

Born in 1982, Jerkface is a street artist living and working in New York. He developed a passion for graffiti while still in high school, and went on to study graphic design at the School of Visual Arts in New York. His colorful work is rich in references to pop culture, particularly the world of cartoons. In particular, he is known for not depicting the eyes of his characters, or repeating their all-over motifs on the same wall. His first solo exhibition was organized in 2016 at the Over the Influence gallery in Hong Kong. He has since been the subject of numerous exhibitions, in the United States and the rest of the world.
