About the artwork

This work features a color-filled glass character eating a sandwich-like pile of books and objects. Flog began his "Man of Glass" series in 2020, from which he developed his graphic signature and universe through his transparent, color-filled characters. Glass is for the human carnal envelope, an empty and fragile shell, with colors symbolizing the emotions, feelings, knowledge, experiences and values that make each person unique. These "Glass Men" feed off each other and subtly share their colors, interacting with each other or with the background. Here, the silhouette is completely absorbed by the simple pleasure of savoring something, symbolizing the happiness of everyday moments accentuated by the explosion of color.

Expert opinion

This work is typical of Flog's work, which shows the interactions between humans, environments and emotions.

About the artist

Florian Gaborit, aka Flog, is a French artist born in Cholet in 1984. Fascinated by drawing from an early age, he studied graphic design at the prestigious Pivaut school in Nantes. Influenced by graffiti and pop culture, Flog creates dreamlike, romantic and sometimes sarcastic works. His art invites viewers to interpret stories without words, focusing instead on the atmosphere and context surrounding his figures. These scenes offer an immersive, almost unsettling narrative, allowing the audience to create their own emotional connection to the work. Flog's art is defined by his mixed techniques involving spray paint, acrylic and oil, applied to a variety of media, such as road signs and canvas. The result is art that is as technical as it is expressive, revealing his mastery of multiple mediums and his unique ability to combine street art and classical art.It is through his "Hommes de verre" series, initiated in 2020, that he creates his own graphic identity and artistic universe. He has exhibited in a number of international galleries, including Verticale Gallery in Chicago in 2023, Exclusive Urban Art Gallery in Rome in 2023 and GCA Gallery in Paris in 2022.
