About the artist
GHOST, also known as Frank Cousin, is a New York City-based street artist who emerged in the graffiti scene during the early 1980s. He gained recognition for his "GH" throw-ups across subway lines, and in 1983, he was a founding member of the RIS (Rockin in Style) Crew. GHOST's efforts contributed to the crew's reputation in graffiti history as he began focusing on "piecing," a more elaborate form of graffiti art. He developed a distinctive loose, flowing, and psychedelic style.
After an active period of "bombing" NYC subways, GHOST transitioned his artistic focus to studio art in the early 1990s, becoming a proponent of the clean-train movement. His work has been seen on trains in Europe, and he continues to exhibit in galleries globally and collaborate with urban culture brands. GHOST maintains a level of anonymity, preferring his art to speak for itself, and has stated that many people in his life do not know his identity as a graffiti writer.
