Through his lens, the artist captures an intimate, everyday scene, underscored by the pensive gaze of his subject. The frame and lighting emphasize the contrasts between light and dark, highlighting the complexity of the figure. The background features a large window, evoking an urban, industrial world that contrasts with the sophistication of Serge Gainsbourg's costume. The artist seems to be looking for inspiration, captured on the spot.
Expert opinion
The intimate, melancholy character of the photographed scene contrasts with the public image of this flamboyant, provocative figure.
