About the artwork
Against a neutral background, Hush reveals a portrait of a Japanese woman in profile. The drooping garment gives us a glimpse of a shoulder. Through a play of color, Hush also draws our attention to her high bun and red mouth. Her vaporous eyes add mystery to the portrait. True to his style, Hush highlights femininity through the sensuality and elegance of his subject, set against a background of blue and white motifs. With this silkscreen, the artist pays homage to the aesthetics of traditional Japanese geishas, while blending the geometry and motifs of his urban style.
Expert opinion
Characteristic of Hush's style, with its presence of the human figure and urban motifs, this silkscreen presents a feminine portrait of great strength and sensuality.
