About the artwork
Eroded Venus de Milo is a resin edition created by American artist Daniel Arsham, representing a reinterpretation of the famous ancient statue. True to his archeological-fictional aesthetic, Arsham presents here a deliberately altered Venus, as if extracted from a distant future. The classical figure is fragmented, hollowed out by fictitious crystals, in a state of poetic erosion. This work embodies the tension between timeless heritage and speculative degradation, blurring the boundaries between archaeological relic and contemporary sculpture. The limited, numbered edition, made from industrial materials, underscores the contrast between the perennity of the icon and the fragility of the present. In this way, Arsham transforms an eternal symbol of beauty into an artifact of time, a bearer of ambiguity and memory.
