About the artwork
Between fragility, banality and fantasy, the artist duo invite us to explore our perceptions with their "Door of Perception", distorted in the manner of our vision of the world, life and our environment.
Expert opinion
In contrast to their houses strewn on islets, the duo's work here is quite singular, yet in keeping with the intellectual approach of their artistic practice.
About the artist
Born in Le Quesnoy, France, brothers Karim (1978) and Luc Berchiche (1981) form the artistic duo La Fratrie. Karim holds a DEA in Political Science from Sciences-Po Paris, while Luc has a Master's degree in Plastic Arts from the University of Lille 3. Together, they create captivating sculptures that blend technical precision with poetic evocation. Their works, often made from a variety of materials, question man's relationship with his environment through meticulous constructions and miniature suspended islands. Their sculptural approach evokes utopian worlds, often complex allegorical narrative scenes that explore the brevity and fragility of life. La Fratrie's work has been exhibited worldwide, including at the Galleria Forni Art Fair in Bologna, Italy, Art Paris in France and the Abu Dhabi Art Fair in the United Arab Emirates.
