About the artwork
Playing with colors, Corinne Dalle-Core highlights the beauty of Maria Callas, known as La Divina. The black of her clothes contrasts sharply with the vibrant colors of the symbols surrounding her: the flowers, considered an attribute of femininity, and the red mouth, a marker of sensuality in pop art imagery.
Expert opinion
A central figure of opera and femininity, Maria Callas is one of the emblematic icons of Corinne Dalle-Ore's artistic universe.
About the artist
Born in 1969 in St-Tropez, Corinne Dalle Ore is an artist who lives and works in Paris. Passionate about painting since the age of 14, she studied art between Paris and the United States. She worked in the world of music before devoting herself to her artistic practice. Her work is inspired by major art figures such as Jean-Michel Basquiat and Twombly, as well as the aesthetics of the 1950s and 60s. The artist offers us a universe rich in color, in which collage is superimposed on painting in a style reminiscent of old advertising posters and neo-expressionist works. Playing on popular imagery, Corinne Dalle Ore transforms stereotypes in work that is sometimes humorous, sometimes provocative and always poetic. As early as 1988, she presented her work at the Salon d'Art et d'Essai in St-Tropez, before being included in auctions at the Hôtel Drouot in the "Young Contemporary Artists" category. Today, she exhibits in numerous European and New York galleries.
