About the artwork
This work features a female figure kneeling on her back, half-naked. The background is composed of intertwining letters, evoking graphs. The canvas is monochrome, with a subtle contrast between matte black and brighter shades. FenX's use of the graph as a form of signature questions the perception of the female body and, more broadly, the place of women in modern visual culture.
Expert opinion
This work is representative of FenX's style, which, through its use of color and form, succeeds in capturing an intimate yet universal dimension, reminiscent of the neo-pop movement.
About the artist
Born in 1974 in Hauts-de-Seine, Loic Floch aka FenX is an artist living and working in France. From an early age, he was fascinated by the street art movement, and took up graffiti. Lulled by the culture of the 1980s, he then devoted himself mainly to work on canvas. Inspired by pop and urban art, the female figure is a recurring theme in his work. FenX's work is renowned both nationally and internationally, with exhibitions in France at the Petit Palais in 2024, and around the world in Japan in 2024, Amsterdam in 2022 and London in 2019.
