À propos de l'œuvre
KING DOR A DAY, dated 2012, is documented as a giclée print on 100% cotton archival-quality paper (330 g/m²), measuring 30 × 30 cm. The corresponding main image depicts a skull motif centered within a circular red and blue halo, with explosive yellow and white paint marks on a dark background. The composition is structured by the relationship between the central motif and the surrounding field, with the support remaining visibly integral to the final appearance. Color, outline, printed information, spray marks, drips, repeated forms, or handwritten interventions are described only where they are visible in the provided image.
The material description indicates that the work was produced using giclée printing on 100% cotton archival-quality paper (330 g/m²). This technique helps explain the distinction between mechanically transferred areas and direct manual intervention, where present. The supplied image is sufficient to describe the overall composition, color palette, and principal motifs, but it should not be treated as confirmation of details that require a close-up or view of the reverse side. The main image alone does not allow for definitive confirmation of the signature, date, or inscriptions on the reverse side. The manifest records the edition information as Ed. / 50. Any information concerning the reverse side, labels, stamps, certificate, exact placement of a signature, or the physical condition is derived from the written documentation rather than from an assumed visual interpretation. No additional narrative elements have been included beyond the visible image and the manifest.
Avis de l'expert
From a cataloging perspective, *KING DOR A DAY* is best categorized within contemporary print practice and the circulation of graphic imagery through carefully produced editions. Its assessment should begin with the verified object type: a giclée print on 100% cotton archival-quality paper (330 g/m²), dated 2012, and an edition documented as Ed. / 50. These factors determine how the work should be compared with other examples. An original drawing, hand-finished proof, prototype, unique variant, or sculpture should not be evaluated according to the same criteria as a standard numbered edition, even when the imagery is closely related.
The work’s significance lies in the connection between its physical production and the visual codes of urban culture. Where the support bears pre-existing marks, where the surface includes spray paint, marker, drips, or hand-applied color, or where a printed image is individually modified, these characteristics contribute to its uniqueness. Edition size, numbering, signature, and dating are therefore material catalog entries rather than promotional attributes. No certificate is confirmed by the manifest unless provided separately. No separate statement of provenance is included in the manifest. Condition should be assessed directly, with particular attention to paper edges, folds, abrasions, mounting, surface cracking, frame contact, and any discrepancy between the stated dimensions and the object itself. No conclusions regarding price, auction performance, rarity, or future value are drawn from the available documentation.
