Valérie Favre

Swiss artist, born in 1959. Lives and works between Berlin (Germany) and Paris (France). Drawing on a powerful network of references, Valérie Favre's work questions opposites. The canvas is envisaged as a place of representation where narrative elements are staged and become actors. Awarded a prize by the Irène Reymond Foundation, she was also nominated for the Prix Marcel Duchamp in 2012. Her works are part of major public collections (such as the Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris) and private collections (Collection Société Générale, etc.). In 2015, the Strasbourg Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art organized a retrospective of her work. As a result of this recognition, she has held the Chair of Painting at Berlin University of the Arts since 2006, following in the footsteps of Daniel Richter and Georg Baselitz. Valérie Favre is represented by the galleries Jocelyn Wolff (Paris, France), Barbara Thum (Berlin, Germany) and Peter Kilchmann (Zurich, Switzerland).
