The Toasters

THE TOASTERS is an artist collective that emerged in 1999, known for its distinctive toaster image disseminated globally through various street art mediums. The collective initially comprised three members, Toaster A, Toaster B, and Toaster D, though Toaster A later continued the project individually. Their work originated as a viral sticker campaign, subsequently expanding to posters, stencils, and murals in numerous international cities. The choice of a mundane domestic appliance as a central motif was intended to provoke questions and establish an internationally recognizable symbol. The collective's output has been displayed in diverse settings, including streets, music festivals, sports stadiums, and museums. Over time, the toaster image has undergone deconstruction, silhouetting, abstraction, and color variations beyond its original palette of orange, black, and white.
