Sam Friedman

Sam Friedman is an American artist born in 1984 in Oneonta, New York. He lives and works in New York. Trained at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, he developed a pictorial practice centered on color, light and the perception of space. His work often explores the idea of abstract landscapes or imaginary geological formations, constructed from layers of color and simplified forms. His paintings are characterized by very smooth transitions between colors, creating immersive atmospheres that sometimes evoke natural phenomena such as atmospheric light, clouds or relief. This approach gives his works a contemplative, almost meditative dimension. Sam Friedman regularly exhibits in galleries in the United States and Europe. His work has been shown in numerous group and solo exhibitions and is represented in several private collections. Today, he is considered one of the most interesting emerging artists on the American contemporary abstract scene.
