Ron English

Ron English, born in 1959 in Decatur, Illinois, is an American contemporary artist known for his "POPaganda" style, which merges pop culture imagery with social and political commentary. He studied fine arts at the University of North Texas and earned an MFA from the University of Texas at El Paso. English initiated his career in the 1980s through unauthorized billboard alterations, transforming commercial messages into subversive statements. English is recognized for his use of iconic characters, such as Ronald McDonald and the Marlboro Man, which he reinterprets to critique consumerism, politics, and media influence. His notable works include "MC Supersized," an obese Ronald McDonald figure featured in the documentary "Super Size Me," and "Abraham Obama," a blend of two U.S. presidents. He has exhibited in various cities globally, including London, Los Angeles, and New York, and has also designed album art for musicians and produced designer toys.
