RNST

Born in 1972, RNST is a graduate of the Dijon School of Fine Arts. During his studies, he was introduced to graffiti in the 1990s by Cynik and adopted the pseudonym GEST. After being arrested by the police, he adopted the name Ernest in reaction to the trend towards American names at the time, and in reference to Ernesto Che Guevara. He particularly enjoys stencilling and draws his inspiration from the rock'n'roll and alternative scene. Following a two-year break, he dropped the "e" from his pseudonym in 2008 to become RNST. His compositions are deeply rooted in current affairs, striving to convey a political message and wishing to avoid making only "food paintings". However, the message is often coded and loaded with different levels of interpretation. Recognized on the French urban scene, he was represented by Bear Galerie at the ST'ART contemporary art fair in Strasbourg and by Lovamotik at District 13 in Paris Drouot in 2022.
