Philippe Charpentier
Philippe Charpentier (b. 1949, Paris) is a French painter whose practice explores abstraction through material, gesture, and the construction of layered surfaces. His compositions often incorporate diverse elements, including collage, printed text, graphic forms, and expressive marks, creating a dialogue between painting and found visual material. Throughout his career, Charpentier has developed a tactile and experimental approach to abstraction, in which texture, accumulation, and fragmentation play a central role. His work belongs to the broader landscape of post-war and contemporary French abstraction and has been presented in solo and group exhibitions in France and elsewhere in Europe.
