Pam GLEW

Pam Glew, born in 1978, is a British artist recognized for her distinctive approach to painting on fabric. Her practice, which began around 2005, involves the use of dye, bleach, and mixed media to deconstruct and distress vintage textiles. Initially, she worked on flags with heat guns, ink, and dye, later developing a unique bleaching technique. Glew's work often incorporates found materials such as flags, quilts, brocade, vintage denim, and Japanese prints. Glew's artistic themes frequently explore how identity is constructed by the places individuals inhabit, often featuring images of women to highlight their representation in art history. She has exhibited internationally in solo shows across London, Paris, and Sydney, and participated in over 150 group exhibitions. Her work is held in collections such as Saatchi & Saatchi London and Mitsubishi Bank, and she has undertaken commissions for brands including Armani, Ralph Lauren, MTV, and Microsoft. Glew is also a co-curator at Paxton+Glew Gallery in Brighton.
