Jonas Wood

Jonas Wood, born in Boston in 1977, is an American contemporary artist known for his paintings, prints, and drawings, which feature vibrant colors and a distinctive graphic style. He earned his MFA from the University of Washington in Seattle in 2002. Wood’s artistic practice often involves translating photographs and found images into flat, brightly colored compositions that blend various references from art history, including Cubism, Pop Art, and Japanese woodblock prints. His subjects frequently include domestic interiors, still lifes, and portraits, often depicting his own studio, his home, or members of his family. Wood’s works are characterized by their pronounced outlines, simplified forms, and elaborate patterns, creating a distinct visual language. He has had numerous solo exhibitions at institutions and galleries around the world, and his work is held in the collections of museums such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York.
