Izumi Kato
Izumi Kato, born in 1969 in Sasebo, Japan, is an artist trained at Tokyo University of Fine Arts. He is best known for his figurative paintings and sculptures with simplified human forms, often populated by enigmatic hybrid creatures. His work explores themes such as childhood, isolation and the human condition, through a palette of vivid colors and stylized silhouettes. A major figure in contemporary art, his work has been exhibited at the Kunsthalle Zürich in 2010 and the Hara Museum in Tokyo in 2011. His works can be found in prestigious collections such as those of the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo.
