Françoise Huguier
Born in 1942, Françoise Huguier is a French photographer. She began her career in fashion photography, before turning to photojournalism and documentary photography. Her work is marked by an in-depth exploration of cultures and territories, particularly in Africa, Asia and Eastern Europe. In 1989, her journey through Africa, in the footsteps of Michel Leiris, led to the publication of "Sur les traces de l'Afrique fantôme", for which she was awarded the Villa Médicis. She is also renowned for her series on the communal apartments of St. Petersburg and on South Korea. In 2023, she was elected fifth member of the photographic section of the Académie des Beaux-Arts.
