Ellen von Unwerth

Born in 1954 in West Germany, Ellen von Unwerth is a German photographer who lives and works mainly in Paris. After a career as a model, she devoted herself to photography, becoming one of the leading figures in contemporary fashion photography. Her style is unmistakable: her grain, tight framing, vivid colors, shadows and high-energy black-and-whites offer a different take on fashion and women. Ellen von Unwerth has exhibited her work in many prestigious galleries and museums around the world, including the Maison Européenne de la Photographie in Paris, the Saatchi Gallery in London and the Fotografiska Museum in New York.
