Claudia Mojica Sorbac

Born in Barranquilla in 1961, Claudia Mojica Sorbac moved to Paris in 1975 to pursue her studies. She now lives and works in Portugal. Her photographic adventure began in 1994, during trips to South America. It was in Cuba that the artist developed a particular interest in street scenes, portraits and photos of flowers, always in black and white. Her interest in color stems from observing the reflection of light on glass, before turning to the colors of cities, particularly New York, whose colors remind her of the photographs of Berenice Abbott. According to her, her work is a constant search for gaiety and beauty. She has had several exhibitions in France and America, notably at the Corrado Bortone Gallery in Paris and the Off Main Gallery in Santa Monica.
