Claude Guillaumin

Born in 1946, Claude Guillaumin is a contemporary French fashion photographer, most active in the 1970s and 1980s. After training at the School of Visual Arts, where he perfected his skills alongside an assistant to Irving Penn, his keen sense of observation opened the doors to prestigious fashion magazines such as Elle, Marie-Claire, Glamour and Cosmopolitan. These early experiences marked the start of numerous collaborations with other renowned fashion and advertising publications. He moves to New York, where he collaborates with Andy Warhol, Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat. He worked for such iconic brands as Chanel, Clarins and L'Oréal. More recently, Claude Guillaumin has made a name for himself with a series of photographs of New York cityscapes. He recently exhibited his work at the Rencontres Photographiques in May.
