Caroline Denervaud
Born in Lausanne in 1978, Caroline Denervaud lives and works in Paris. Initially introduced to contemporary and classical dance at the Laban Center (London), she studied at the Beaux Arts de Paris in the 2000s, before training in fashion design at Studio Berçot. More than a painter, she produces performances in which she creates monumental works, or "traces". Her artistic practice is based on a quest for balance and movement. Lying on the floor on a canvas, the artist moves across a surface that records rhythms. The tracings retain a few outlines of a human presence in motion, translated into a sensitive geometry. Her first solo show took place in Brussels in 2018 (Galerie Arnold de Vinck), and since then her work has been exhibited around the world in Paris, London, New York, Los Angeles, Milan, Istanbul and Melbourne. She has taken part in many prestigious fairs, including Draw Art Fair (London, 2019), Art Paris Art Fair (Paris, 2021; 2023) and ART 021 (Shanghai, 2022).
