Carlos Betancourt

Born in 1966 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Carlos Betancourt is a renowned multidisciplinary artist. His work explores memory and personal experience, while tackling themes such as nature, the environment, beauty and identity. His art can be found in prestigious collections such as the National Portrait Gallery in Washington and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. In 2015, a book entitled Carlos Betancourt: Imperfect Utopia was dedicated to him, edited by Petra Mason. Two years later, he created the Betancourt-Latorre Foundation, an initiative that provides support for artists on the Miami and Caribbean art scene. In 2018, he won the Audience Award at the Florida Prize in Contemporary Art. Carlos Betancourt is now based in his studio in Little River, Miami Beach.
