Anton Corbijn

Born in 1955, Anton Corbijn is a Dutch photographer and video artist. He is famous for his black-and-white portraits of artists, captured with slow shutter speeds that allow him to emphasize his subjects' movements and gestures. Fascinated by music, Anton Corbijn began photographing local bands at the age of 17. The artist moved to London to work as a photographer for NME magazine. Since 1983, he has produced over 80 videos, including Nirvana's famous "Heart-Shaped Box" clip with Kurt Cobain, for which he won an MTV Video Music Award. His photographic and video work is exhibited worldwide, including at the David Beitzel Gallery in New York and Chicago (USA), the Gronginer Museum in Gronginer (Netherlands) and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Tokyo (Japan).
