Aki Kuroda

Aki Kuroda (born 1944 in Kyoto, Japan) is a Japanese artist living and working in Paris since 1970. He began painting at the age of three and exhibited his work for the first time at ten. Kuroda's practice encompasses painting, photography, sculpture, installation, and performance, drawing inspiration from everyday scenes and passers-by in Paris. His first solo exhibition took place in Germany in 1978, followed by participation in the Paris Biennial in 1980 and the São Paulo Biennial in 1994. His works have been exhibited in notable institutions including the Tokyo and Osaka Museums of Modern Art and the Maison Européenne de la Photographie in Paris. He has received public commissions from major institutions such as the Maison de la Culture du Japon in Paris, the Mauboussin building in Tokyo, and the Musée d'Art Moderne et Contemporain in Strasbourg.
