A.R Penck

A.R Penck (born 1939 in Dresden, Germany; died 2017 in Düsseldorf, Germany) was a German painter, sculptor, and graphic artist. He studied at the Hochschule für Bildende Kunst in Hamburg and became associated with the Neo-Expressionist movement. Penck's work is characterized by a unique visual language that combines abstract forms with figurative elements, often using bold colors and dynamic compositions. He gained recognition in the 1980s and exhibited widely, including a notable solo exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in New York in 1983. His works are included in major collections such as the Museum of Modern Art, New York, and the Städel Museum, Frankfurt. He was represented by several galleries throughout his career, including the Galerie Templon in Paris.
