About the artist
Born in Melbourne, Australia, in 1983, Dean West lives and works in New York. A graduate of Queensland College of Art, he is internationally renowned for his conceptual photography, which has been exhibited at Art Basel, the Exposure Awards at the Louvre and Miami Art Week. His collaboration with Lego on the In Pieces series has brought him particular notoriety, combining photography with trompe-l'oeil sculpture of Lego objects. He describes his approach as a synthesis of photography, cinema and digital art, aiming to create images that are "truer than life".
