About the artwork
This is a series of twelve portraits of American actor Clint Eastwood, painted by Corinne Dalle Ore. The canvas bears witness to her penchant for hijacking the traditional portrait. Each face is enriched with details reflecting the richness of her imagination and offering a variation on the same theme.
Expert opinion
Corinne Dalle Ore's representation of the actor disguised as a cowboy is a detour of the American imagination. Like pop artists such as Roy Lichtenstein and Andy Warhol, the artist hides behind her apparent humor deeper questions about identity, celebrity and collective memory.
About the artist
Born in 1969 in St-Tropez, Corinne Dalle Ore is an artist who lives and works in Paris. Passionate about painting since the age of 14, she studied art between Paris and the United States. She worked in the world of music before devoting herself to her artistic practice. Her work is inspired by major art figures such as Jean-Michel Basquiat and Twombly, as well as the aesthetics of the 1950s and 60s. The artist offers us a universe rich in color, in which collage is superimposed on painting in a style reminiscent of old advertising posters and neo-expressionist works. Playing on popular imagery, Corinne Dalle Ore transforms stereotypes in work that is sometimes humorous, sometimes provocative and always poetic. As early as 1988, she presented her work at the Salon d'Art et d'Essai in St-Tropez, before being included in auctions at the Hôtel Drouot in the "Young Contemporary Artists" category. Today, she exhibits in numerous European and New York galleries.
